The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) encourages Muslims to start fasting and other observances for Ramadan from today, for the betterment of their lives.
In a press the Acting Deputy President of the CIOG, Sultan H Rahaman, said Taraweeh Prayers started yesterday. He said too the moon had not been sighted and as such fasting starts today. In his message, Rahaman urges Muslims to “approach this month with renewed sincerity, repentance, resolution, and commitment to Allah.” He said the prophet taught his followers to spend their days fasting and nights praying, reciting the Quran and giving abundant charity.
“Every act of good we do in this month will have an even greater reward with Allah,” the release said. It said too Ramadan presents an excellent opportunity for Muslims to improve their lives and as such they should aspire to removing harmful traits from their characters or speech, “whether it be argumentation, backbiting, making false promises, or resentment against a fellow Muslim, or a sinful matter from our lives.”
