Neighbourly support: The Guyana Bank for Industry and Trade (GBTI) yesterday handed over two computers to the Guyana Police Force. John Tracey, the CEO of the bank whose head office is next door to the Force’s Eve Leary headquarters said that it was felt that assistance should be given since the police are important to the development of the country. He recalled that it was one of the company’s directors who realized that the Force’s registry was in need of a computer and suggested that the Bank make such a donation. Tracey said that the Board of Directors was consulted and a decision was made to donate two instead of one. While pointing out that other donations were made in the past, the CEO said that the bank is ready to give assistance in any way possible. Police Commissioner Henry Greene expressed appreciation for the systems before adding that the Bank during their construction work had secured a passage between the Bank and the Tactical Services Unit (TSU), making the two locations more secure.
