This year’s showing of Bikers Fest is definitely expected to thrill when the gripping stunts, including ramp riding, high flying BMX and skateboard action are unleashed on the spectators at the National Park on Sunday evening.
The event planners, according to reports, have solicited the assistance of the world number one ranked female BMX rider from Los Angeles, Cory Coffey and top female stunt rider, Jessica Maine, and suspenseful scenes will flare in the National Park as these edge-of-the-seat feats stimulate spectators.
Coffey is most known for being the first female to perform a back flip, and is currently the two-time reigning women’s world champion for street BMX, although the contest has not been held since 2005.
After racing BMX for three years, Cory made the decision when she was 17 years old to move away from racing in order to ride ramps and pedal less. She has had 10 knee surgeries. She also suffered a severe concussion during the MTV Sports and Music Festival in Las Vegas.
Maine started riding in 2003 at 17 years of age and became a stunt rider in 2005. She advises young girls who are interested in riding “to overcome the fear and not to be intimidated by the bike.” She says despite the several accidents she loves doing extreme stunts and every time she falls she just gets up and goes again.
Not forgetting our own home grown performers, the event will also feature local riders displaying their talent on bicycles, CBRs and ATVs, and rumour has it that a grandmother will be among the riding crew.
Bikers Fest seeks to inspire the youth by showing that one can be successful if they follow their passion.
Sponsored by Ansa Mcal this year’s Bikers Fest promises to be different and more exciting. An Ansa McAl representative said that the diversity will not only excite the children but also be a lasting experience.
Bikers Fest is billed as a treat for the entire family.
