Wartsila Operations Guyana Inc. is the most recent sponsor to get onboard with the upcoming President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic following their $50,000 contribution in aid of the event at their company’s location at Water Street, Kingston.
The presentation of the cheque was made by the company’s Contract Manager, Arron Fraser to Coordinator of the event Edison Jefford in the presence of the company’s Safety and Environmental Manager Gary Hall.
Fraser, who is himself a former athlete and past national 800 metre junior champion, recognized the need to support the venture and promised continuing support as Jefford plans to make this an annual event.
Fraser noted while funding is a necessity to develop athletics locally, athletes themselves should strive to improve their commitment in their respective disciplines.
