A football player was yesterday accused of wounding at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on August 1 at Georgetown, Andrew Murray unlawfully and maliciously wounded Denroy Peters. He was granted $25,000 bail by Magistrate Alan Wilson.
Initially, Murray was not required to plead to the indictable charge of unlawful wounding when it was read to him by the Magistrate; however, the prosecutor later applied the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) which allowed for the accused to enter his plea. Murray then denied the charge when it was re-read to him by the magistrate.
Peters, the virtual complainant, was not present at court. Murray made an application to be granted bail in a reasonable sum; the prosecution had no objection to the bail application. Murray was later granted bail and he was ordered to return to court on September 2.
