The Jamzone 2010 calendar of events officially gets underway tonight with a chutney super concert that is expected to be so hot the promoters are reportedly considering sprinklers for the event.
A press release from the promotional team earlier this week screamed, “Chutney Super Concert: back and bigger than before!” but judging from the line-up the hype seems fair. Some of the current most popular chutney performers are billed for the event at the Guyana National Stadium.
The entertainment line-up includes Caribbean artistes, Adesh Samaroo, D’Hitman, De Hunter, Soca Elvis, Sabrina Ragobeer and Guyana’s Shakti Strings and Princess Fiona.
Last year Trinidadian chutney cross-over band ‘Karma,’ along with the ‘More rum for me’ singer D’Hitman heated up the stadium at the first ever Jamzone chutney super concert; that event was ‘Chutney Bacchanal’ and featured supporting acts such as Kenneth Salick, Drupattie and Anil Singh.
Tickets for the Chutney Super Concert are being sold at an affordable cost of $1000, according to the team, which also has concerts lined up under the themes, ‘Reggae’ and ‘International Nights.’ Grammy-award winning R&B artiste Neyo is slated to perform along with the Jamaican ‘Gully God’ Mavado on separate nights.
Further, the swimsuit leg of the Miss Jamzone International pageant runs off tomorrow at the Princess Hotel and Casino Poolside.
Eight Caribbean beauties including a local representative are competing for the title.
According to Hits and Jams, the swimsuit competition will offer the added attraction of a fashion display as well as performances from local duo, X2.
The Intelligence segment of the pageant is slated for August 18, and the finals are billed for Sunday, August 22 at the Splashmins Fun Park and Resort.
