Cabinet has approved a $95.36M contract for repairs to sections of the East Bank Public Road from La Penitence to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timerhi.
Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon said last week at his weekly briefing that the contract was approved for the upgrade in the public works sector.
He said also that contracts were also approved in the agricultural sector for rehabilitation projects at the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA).
The NDIA office at Lusignan is to be rehabilitated to the tune of $27M while $8.2M was cleared for the Plant Health building at NARI. A contract totalling $31.1M was also cleared for rehabilitation works to be carried out at the seed and germoplasma lab at NARI.
Further, two contracts were also approved in the housing and water sector for the procurement of galvanized pipes at a cost of US$144,000 and for PVC and DI pipe fittings at $120.5M.
