After defeating Guyana’s Alex Arjoon and Julian Chin, Bermuda’s Nick Kyme finally landed on the receiving end when Richard Chin yesterday avenged his teammates’ elimination.
Chin defeated Kyme in the quarter finals of the men’s Open singles competition of the National Lotteries Authority Caribbean Squash Championships currently being held in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
According to results on the Squash website, Chin thrashed Kyme 11/3, 11/4, 11/1 to reach the semi-finals.
He was expected to go up against the tournament’s ¾ seed, Patrick Simpson last night.
Chin entered the tournament as the number two seed and has kept a clean slate so far.
He defeated Trinindad and Tobago’s Chayse Macquan 11 – 5, 11 – 3, 11 – 2 on Sunday before returning later that night to defeat Kyme’s fellow countryman, Robert Maycock, in their round of 16 match 11 – 0, 11 – 5, 11 – 7.
Meanwhile, in the consolation department, Arjoon yesterday revived his game with an 11 – 6, 11 – 5, 12 -10 win against Guyana’s Robert MacDavid, having suffered an 11 – 8, 11 – 8, 13 – 11 defeat to Kyme.
This was MacDavid’s second consecutive defeat after he lost 8 -11, 11- 6, 11 – 8, 11 – 8 to Julian Chin in the round of 32 Sunday night while the other member of the men’s team Regan Pollard lost in round one to Jamaica’s Joel Levy.
