The Upper Demerara Cricket Association (UDCA) held its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) since 2006 over the weekend at the Linden Education Advancement Programme (LEAP) Boardroom and elected Leslie Nedd as president of the body.
The meeting was chaired by Nedd who is also the head of the Interim Management Committee and in attendance were representatives of ten registered clubs in the region.
According to reports the newly-elected executive promised to bring about the revival and general upgrade of cricket standards at all levels, including female cricket.
Meanwhile, a successful one-day male and female tournament was staged earlier this month at the Ituni Ball Field between Royal Champions and Ituni. Royal Champions males and Ituni females were the two teams that prevailed.
The new executive includes Bradley Federicks who was elected Vice President, Eutol Wilson – Secretary, Aubrey Douglas – Assistant Secretary, Noreen White – Treasurer and Clayton Vanhersel – Assistant Treasurer.
They also held their first executive meeting and Godwyn Primo was elected Public Realtions Officer, Gabriel Fiedtkou – Competition Committee Chairman, Indar Singh and Andrew Forsythe – Trustees and Rickford Gomer – Disciplinary Officer.
A three-member committee comprising Victor Persaud, Anthony Belle and Venessa Daniels was also elected as a part of the association.
