A young man accused of having an unlicensed firearm in his possession was yesterday remanded to prison after pleading not guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Cordell Dowden, 18, denied that on August 17 at Georgetown, he had in his possession a firearm with magazine for a 32 automatic pistol without being the holder of a valid firearm licence.
Dowden denied the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Octive-Hamilton remanded him on the prosecutor’s request and later ordered him to return to court on December 2 for trial.
