If there was any weekend like this one in 2010 we might have missed it, but Jamzone Summer Break weekend (now unfolding) takes top honours not just for endless entertainment, but for the best entertainment we have had in a long time.
Whether it’s Ne-Yo, the Caribbean beauties or the beach events, the countdown is over because it all happens this weekend! Ne-Yo should be here by the time this article is out and we’re likely to be recovering as well from all that ‘palancing’ with JW and Blaze last night at the Guyana National Stadium.
The Ne-Yo concert goes down tonight also at the stadium, and while we don’t mind getting a taste of what Timeka Marshall has to offer, our interest really is in the R&B superstar. He is expected to deliver one of the best concerts this country has ever seen; he could sing only two notes and is still likely to leave a lot of people – well the women – pretty satisfied.
The Jamzone International Pageant (should’ve stayed local) wraps up tomorrow at Splashmins and the clear front runners are Guyana, Jamaica and St Lucia; any scores reflecting something different are just plain wrong! Guyana’s representative this year, Nikita Archer, is not only a strong competitor, but she has been pretty solid since the competition kicked off on Sunday last. Still, Jamaica’s Lisa-Gayle Tom has somehow managed to fly in and win over a typically patriotic Guyanese crowd.
St Lucia’s Joy-Ann Biscette just stands out, and comes over as the most impressive delegate in the line-up so far. It didn’t look like she won the swimsuit competition, but she should have easily taken the nod for best presentation at the intelligence segment; her delivery that night was on another level. We will go as far as to say her gown was also in a league of its own.
Hits and Jams promotions which is behind the Jamzone calendar of events had one word of advice for its large following of entertainment-thirsty Summer Break patrons; show up and if it is possible, carpool. They don’t have to tell us twice.
