“I’m a true, ardent follower and supporter of Guyana cricket and the West Indies at large. I’m a lover and a fan and I just wanted to make my little contribution towards Guyana cricket because I think my little few dollars could go a far way and I hope in the future that I can make larger contributions,” Narine said.
He extended congratulations to the team for its latest performance at the WICB Twenty20 Championships and wished them all the best on their venture in South Africa.
Additionally, Narine expressed appreciation to New York-based businessmen Dr. Stanley Sohan, Danny Sawh and Shook Shivnarine, who he said also made their small inputs into amassing the $500,000 donation.
Meanwhile, Singh expressed the board’s gratitude towards Narine for his support, stating that it would go a far way towards assisting in the preparation of the team.
“This is a generous gesture of assisting the GCB in preparation of the team to represent Guyana in South Africa come next month. Gestures like these go a far way in assisting us, because at the end of the day it is a reasonable cost exercise that we have gone into in terms of the preparation of the team. Therefore on behalf of the GCB I just want to say thank you very much to Mr. Narine,” Singh said.
