Local golfers have been hard at training for today’s King’s Jewellery World (KJW) sponsored Medal Play golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) Course, East Coast of Demerara.
Club Captain Patrick Prashad said the Lusignan course has been a hive of activity during the week as the players sharpened their game for the much anticipated tournament.
According to Prashad, with the weather improving the players are look to turn in good scores to better last weekend’s results from the rain-affected competition.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers with best gross scores as well as Nearest to the Flag at hole number 8.
All eyes will be on teenage prodigy Avinda Kishore who won last weekend’s tournament as he continues to show impressive form this season.
He will be challenged by former Guyana Open champions Imran Khan, Mike Mangal, Alfred Mentore and Mohanlall Dinanauth.
Also scheduled to be in action are Ian Gouveia, Mike Guyadin, Joaan Deo, Boloram Deo, William Walker, Carlos Adams, Clifford Reis, Gavin Todd, Mark Lashley, Chatterpaul Deo, Albert Russell, Mel Sankies, Dr. Ram Singh, Albert Semple, Esau Samshudin, Brian Hackett and Muntaz Haniff.
Players register on or before 16:30 hours on Friday at the Club on telephone number 220-5660.
Representatives of King’s Jewellery World were invited to present prizes at the end of the tournament.
Tee off time is 12:30 hours.
