Sonia Noel is whetting appetites this year prior to the unveiling of Guyana Fashion Weekend (GFW) with the production of ‘Theatrical Spectacular’ set for October.
Noel and the Guyana Fashion Weekend committee is offering up the show at the National Culture Centre on October 23, 2010, and according to a press release from the committee, the show will pay homage to Guyana’s rich and diverse fashion culture and the developing sectors of designing and modelling.
“It also seeks to promote while portraying fashion through the creative arts of dance, music and drama,” the release said. The committee said the show will also take Guyanese back to the time of fashion icon Sara Lou Carter, wife of the late John Carter, Guyana’s first ambassador to the United States.
Sonia Noel, Walter Green, Richard Younge, Clive Prowell are currently working on the production, which forms part of activities planned to celebrate and mark Fashion Weekend 2010.
The committee announced that auditions for singers, dancers, models and actors will run off today and end tomorrow. These auditions are expected to begin at 2pm and wrap up around 5pm at the Water Chris Hotel located at Qaumina and Waterloo Streets. In addition, auditions for Fashion Weekend will also be staged at the same time.
