Action in the third annual Berbice Football Association (BFA) organized Cheddi and Janet Jagan Memorial Knockout Competition continues today with a double header at Burnham Park.
At 2:00pm Cougars FC will clash with Strike Force while the Mahaica Determinators will go head-to-head against Pistons United in the feature match at 4:00pm.
In the opening match Cougars will be spearheaded by prolific striker Winston Benjamin against the ever-improving Strike Force United team who are in their second full season of competition at the senior level.
The Strike Force team boasts a number of quality players including brothers Leslie and Michael Amsterdam.
At 4:00pm, Mahaica Determinators of East Coast and Pistons United spearheaded by Earlan Hinds and Eon “Sugarboy” Farley, will match skills to determine who goes through to the semi-finals.
The Mahaica lads as well as the Pistons players have both shown that they are capable of taking on stern competition and winning by getting past strong Linden and Georgetown teams in their previous encounters last weekend.
They are now featured in what promises to provide nothing less than a fierce contest and terrific entertainment.
Last Sunday, New Amsterdam United defeated Fruta Conquerors in a nail-biting encounter that ended 3-2 while Winners Connections suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Mahaica Determinators and Pistons United needled Georgetown Football Club (GFC) 1 – 0 to make it through to the next round.
