Suriname President Desi Bouterse will pay his first state visit to Venezuela next week, according to a report in the English bulletin of de Ware Tijd.
The newspaper said that while an exact date has not yet been set, it had learnt from reliable sources that the visit has been scheduled for two days in the week of September 6.
Bouterse will meet with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez and discussions will centre on ‘joint projects’ between both countries.
The Suriname delegation is expected to include Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Lackin and First Lady Ingrid Bouterse. The Suriname leader is also scheduled to be in the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly from September 22 to 27, DWT said.
