A miner was stabbed to death and two others wounded during a fracas at Apaikwa Landing, Middle Mazaruni around midday on Sunday.
Police last evening gave the dead man’s name as Sylvester Simon, of St. Ignatius, Lethem.
According to a police statement, initial investigations revealed that Simon was fatally stabbed during an argument with another man who has been arrested and is in police custody.
Two other persons, police, said, are reported to have been injured during the incident. One of the injured has been flown out to Georgetown and has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Police said no other information was available.
Stabroek News understands that a police team has been dispatched to the area to conduct investigations.
