The Richard Ishmael Secondary School has recorded an overall pass rate of 92.69% at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, the school said in a press release.
Among the best performers were Melissa Drakes with 10 subjects, Mandy Mangal 10 subjects, Obitre Hytmiah 8 subjects, Carl Alleyne 9 subjects and Kevin Dhanram 8 subjects.
The school on Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, obtained 100% passes in 14 subjects out of 23 subjects. These results were obtained in Agricultural Science, Food & Nutrition, Geography, Home Economics Management, Information Technology, Integrated Science, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Social Studies, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Electronic Document Preparation and Management (EDPM), Human and Social Biology and Electricity.
In the other nine subject areas, except Mathematics with 60% and Spanish with 50%, the percentage passes were over 90%.
According to the release, the school has improved remarkably in English A with 95.87%, English B with 92.86% and Geography with 100%.
In addition 116 students out of 120 who wrote the examination gained passes in five to 10 subjects.
Meanwhile, the principal Chandroutie Persaud has extended congratulations to the students and staff for their hard work and he also urged the Parent-Teacher Association to continue supporting the school.
