High waters in the Kamarang River and other waterways have led to flooding in parts of Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni), reports yesterday said.
Waramadong along the Mazaruni is among the communities affected and Region Seven officials have gone to the area. A resident from the area, residing in Georgetown, said that the water was “extremely high” and farms are under water. She said that areas along the Kamarang River are also under water.
The area, in western Guyana, has several communities populated mainly by Amerindians. Miners also work in that area.
