The recent NCATA poll has once again found that Senior Counsel Mr Ralph Ramkarran is the leading PPP candidate for the presidency. The poll correctly stated that Mr Ramkarran is extremely popular among the professional and intellectual group and is well accepted among all races. He therefore stands tall among all his contenders with these attributes.
It will be a tribute for the country to have a leader of such quality, especially in this highly polarized environment. His recent remarks at the opening of the FITUG Conference that were well accepted locally and internationally, show that he is equipped with the necessary ideas to take this country forward, and place him as a true and leading statesman in Guyana.
As speaker of the National Assembly Mr Ramkarran, despite being a long-standing leader of the PPP, was able to rise above partisan interest and conduct the affairs of parliament in a bi-partisan manner.
Despite any limitation Mr Ramkarran might have, none of the contenders can match his credibility. This is why people have him as their number one choice.
