Dear Editor,
Since the removal of the revenue office from central Mackenzie, to Casuarina Drive and Hibiscus Lane Watooka, I notice a reduction in the number of the security guards. In addition, when it rains the guards have to move out of the hut or they will be soaked. The compound is without fencing and at night it’s only partly illuminated. Owing to the above-mentioned conditions the guards, who are mostly female and at times work alone at night, are exposed to danger and are very insecure.
Can the revenue administration of Linden look into the mater of securing or protecting the security guards while on duty at their office? Watchmen, watchwomen and security guards are the lowest paid workers and are operating in dangerous situations. They have become the target of violent intruders quite often, even when there is proper fencing and lighting, while we lie having a good night’s sleep. Human resources are more important than anything else.
Yours faithfully,
Winslow Parris
