The annual Masters Cup and 10/10 female softball cricket competitions sponsored by Kubota Industrial Generators and Engines and Tohatsu Outboards and organized by the Guyana Floodlights Cricket Association (GFCA) will bowl off on September 12 at various venues throughout Guyana.
Director of Sports, Neil Kumar, who was present at the recent launching of the two tournaments, in brief remarks congratulated the association for the initiative and thanked the sponsors for supporting the tournaments.
Kumar said that the government was willing to support in any way to make the sport better.
A release from the Guyana Floodlights Cricket Association said it has sent teams for the last three years to the Florida Cup in the USA.
Entrance fees for the Masters Cup 25-overs-a-side softball tournament is $5,000 and for the female 10/10 softball tournament $2,500.
The winning teams for both competitions will receive a trophy with the $50,000 top prize while the runner up teams will receive a trophy and $25,000 cash.
There will also be trophies for the top individual performances throughout the competition.
In an effort to standardize balls, teams are asked to use the yellow Supreme Floodlights balls.
