West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin will get a chance to improve on his batting when he lines up with former West Indies batting legend Gordon Greenidge from next week.
Ramdin was recently blanked by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) when they awarded central retainer contracts and this was because of his indifferent performances over the last year.
The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) then decided to have him work with Greenidge to correct his flaws and resurrect his career. This was revealed by national selector Rangy Nanan. The former Test spinner who is also on the executive of the Clico Preysal Club which Ramdin plays for locally said: “The TTCB has decided to have Gordon work with Denesh because they realise that he needs some assistance at this point in time and they don’t want to forsake him.
“He has talent but something is not going right with his batting and the board thinks that he can play much better than what we are seeing at present.”
Also getting an opportunity to work with Greenidge will be national and West Indies opener Lendl Simmons.
The Merryboys player has fallen out of favour with the West Indies selectors this year and has been overlooked for a number of series. They have even blanked him for the developmental ‘A’ team tours. Simmons said the WICB kept him out because they had problems with his attitude but he has not gotten an answer as to what he did wrong and when. (Trinidad Guardian)
