Minister of Housing and Water Irfaan Ali is urging allottees to start building at the recently developed Block MH Scheme at Anna Catherina so that the ministry can start infrastructure works.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Ali told allottees a recent ‘One Stop Shop’ outreach exercise at Boorie Street that the occupancy rate is necessary before work can start.
“You have an opportunity that you deserve and the government is happy that they can give you this opportunity. However, we need 75 percent occupancy rate because if we build the road complete to the final stage now, when the big sand trucks come in it would destroy the roads,” he said.
Ali also told them to make use of the services provided as the ministry “currently has a strong re-possession policy and as such they are required to commence construction and not hold on to the land.” He also informed allottees that commercial banks are offering an attractive 4.2 per cent interest on low income housing and they should endeavour to capitalise on this opportunity.
