John Neville Singh, who has been an accountant and solicitor in England for a number of years and a former magistrate in Belize, was last Monday admitted to the local bar by acting Chief Justice Ian Chang. His petition was presented by attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes. In his acceptance speech Singh said he has always wanted to contribute to the jurisprudence in Guyana and is particularly interested in the development of the Civil and Criminal Procedure Rules. His move to be accepted to the local bar was encouraged by Colin Bobb-Semple, a Guyanese attorney in England who is also the founder chair of the Guyana Law Association (UK). Seen in this photograph from left to right are Singh, Justice Chang, Hughes and Bobb-Semple, who is also a consultant on Law Revision which is part of the Modernisation of the Justice Administration System Project with the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
