Book rush: Persons who turned up yesterday to benefit from free books being given away at Food for the Poor’s bond in Lombard Street were met with a locked gate and a sign on the guard’s hut that read “Notice: No Distribution of Books”. According to Alvin Doris, Public Relations Officer of the organisation the five-day book give away was called off after unruly crowds pushed down the gates on Wednesday. However Doris said that the organisation will continue to give books to schools. Teachers can uplift them, but they must take along a letter from the school.
