The Nets basketball team ended their stint in the Open Division of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Division Three and Open leagues on a high note with a 68-64 win against the Bounty Colts Sunday night at the Burnham Court.
Both teams were contesting their final game on the competition schedule and went hard, never mind they were only playing for a consolation win, since neither of the two is in line to progress to GABA’s Pepsi Street Series Basketball Playoffs which will begin following the leagues.
Colts got on the ball early and took a 21-15 lead at the end of a high scoring first quarter.
However the Nets were the ones to flip the script and lead the scoreboard from the second period with the Colts trailing closely behind.
The Nets took a 3-point advantage at the halftime mark, but found themselves fending off the Colts and defending a meager one point lead by the start of the fourth quarter which began with the scores 48-47.
The Colts were within range, but couldn’t secure the lead by the final whistle which saw them trailing by a four-point deficit.
Drumson McAully highlighted his team’s score sheet with 15 points. He was assisted by Triston Polloch and Fabian Johnson who contributed 13 and 10 points respectively for the Nets.
Meanwhile, Desmond Chin scored a game high 16 points for the Colts, while Gavin Beeram and Triston Lake pitched in with 15 points each.
Sunday night’s opening game which was scheduled to be contested between the Ravens and Eagles was postponed for tomorrow night.
