Dear Editor,
Land disputes in Mahdia are ongoing because land predators or grabbers are deliberately distorting the right information given them by the relevant authorities of the Guyana Lands and Surveys with regard to the procedures for land application and occupation. These predators cleverly distort this information and use it as a defence when they are challenged by others who have prescriptive rights and who try to avoid predators from encroaching.
The disputes would escalate into disorderly behaviour until the police intervene to maintain the peace. Lands and Survey officials would later resolve these disputes amicably.
Yours faithfully,
George Carrington
