A Linden man miraculously survived after falling some 30 feet from a ladder as he was attempting to remove a bee hive from the three-storey Linden Fire Station building.
Michael Walcott, 48, of Block 22, Wismar, Linden, is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was transferred from the Linden Hospital Complex.
Stabroek News understands that Walcott was perched on a ladder braced to the third floor of the Fire Station and fell as he was attempting to remove the bee hive from the building.
The incident occurred around 6 pm on Wednesday while all the firefighters were at a workshop in the building. According to Officer-In-Charge of the Linden Fire Station Orin Brutus, the firemen immediately rushed to Walcott’s aid when they were alerted. They used the fire truck to transport him to the Linden Hospital Complex.
Walcott’s relatives credited their prayers for his escaping death. “We know it was our prayers that worked on his behalf, we know that,” said one relative. Another added, “He has experienced a miracle from God because falling from that height he should have been a dead man.”
The man was rushed to the city hospital shortly after 9 pm on Wednesday and he is said to be in a stable condition.
