A man who stole a quantity of vegetables from his employer was on Friday fined $25,000 or an alternative of two weeks imprisonment.
On September 11 at Parika, Harold Glenn stole a quantity of vegetables, valued $11,200, which belonged to Abdool Mohamed. Glenn, upon admission of his guilt to the charge of simple larceny, told acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court that Mohamed owed him for work done. “Meh worship, me boss man owe me,” he explained. “Every month he robbing me and me aint getting me right money. Sometimes me aint getting pay at all, suh duh is why I thief the things from he,” he added.
When asked by the magistrate what he did with the items, Glenn responded, “I use them up meh worship.”
Mohamed was not present at court.
