Though they fell short of qualifying for the Pepsi Street Playoff Series, the Colours Panthers Division Three team rebounded well from a loss to Ravens Friday night by defeating the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 59-55 in the final game of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Division Three and Open leagues.
The Panthers went out with a bang Saturday night at the Burnham Court to complete the second of two wins from the three successive games they played throughout Thursday to Saturday night.
Last Thursday they cruised past the Macabees 72-48, but faltered to the league’s number one Division Three team, Ravens 82-70 Friday night, prior to their closing triumph on Saturday against the GDF.
With all the teams completing their allotted eight games each, the Beepat Scorpions lead the top four teams heading into the Playoff series with seven wins and one loss (7- 1), followed by the Ravens (7- 1), Melanie Patriots (6- 2) and Pacesetters ( 5- 3).
The Pepsi Playoff Street Series will be played in the ‘best of three’ format in both the Open and Third divisions and it is scheduled to bounce off on September 25.
