The seasoned campaigners prevailed in last Saturday’s Doosan–Farm Supplies Limited-sponsored golf tournament played at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Veteran golfer Dr. Ram Singh emerged victorious in the Medal Play tournament with a net score of 68 from a gross 88 playing off a 20 handicap.
Robert Hanoman, another seasoned campaigner secured the second position returning a net score of 70 from a gross 95 playing off a 25 handicap.
Mike Mangal was once again on the podium in capturing the third position with a net score of 71 from a gross 78 playing off a 7 handicap.
Another regular prize winner Boloram Deo won the award for Nearest to the Pin on hole number eight.
Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club Williams Walker thanked Doosan–Farm Supplies for continuing to be a regular sponsor and said that the club looked forward to continued sponsorship in the future.
Doosan–Farm Supplies Ltd. Sales Manager Schelte Van Dijk said his company was extremely pleased to sponsor the tournament.
He said the relationship between his company and the LGC has been a long one that began at the old clubhouse.
According to Van Dijk his company will continue to offer support to the LGC.
Meanwhile, seven golfers including Walker, Patrick Prashad, Ian Gouveia, Chatterpaul and Joann Deo have registered for the RBTT Suriname Open tournament slated for the first weekend in October in the neighbouring republic. The tournament was originally scheduled for August but was rescheduled to October 2-3 due to inclement weather.
Club officials said that over the next two months the course will be a hive of activity with several major tournaments including the annual Guyana Open sponsored by Banks DIH, Digicel two-day Classic and Citizen’s Bank Players Championship.
