Seaton Daphness, 46, of Middle Street, McDoom, East Bank Demerara, became the latest road fatality yesterday, a day after he was struck down by a vehicle while crossing the Agricola Public Road.
Police, in a statement, said Daphness’ death pushed the figure of road fatalities so far for the year to 78, as a result of 75 accidents.
Daphness, police said, was hit at around 11pm on Monday by pick-up GKK 4960, while he was attempting to cross the eastern carriage way of the road from west to east.
The driver of the pick-up, identified as Richard Malley, 46, also of Middle Street, McDoom, is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
