The Albion Community Centre and the Port Mourant grounds will come alive on Sunday with the semi-finals of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club 20th Anniversary Busta Champion of Champions Tournament.
At Albion, the tournament’s defending champions, the Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets team clashes with West Berbice while Young Warriors will oppose Port Mourant Karibee Rice at the Port Mourant Ground.
The Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets team is expected to be strengthened by the return of their three national players, Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon and Esuan Crandon, and therefore would be favorites against West Berbice although this team has developed over the years.Fresh off competing in South Africa, national batsmen Fudadin and Royston Crandon will be expected to lead the batting with support from Delbert Hicks, Renwick Batson, Jason Sinclair, Eon Hooper and Esuan Crandon.Meanwhile, medium pacers Esuan Crandon and Eon Gibson will lead the bowling attack with support from spinners Ravi Narine, Troy Mathieson, Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Shawn Perreira and Damon Vantull.
West Berbice will depend heavily on the talented Arthley Bailey along with Kwesi Mentore, Krisendat Ramoo, Keith Fraser and Steffon Adams to put runs on the board so that the bowling attack can put pressure on Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets. Pacers Keon Joseph and Keyron Fraser are expected to share the new ball supported by spinners Ramoo, Leroy Bristol, Sherwin Mc Pherson and Kenje Sedoc. The umpires for the match will be Dhieranidranauth Somwaru and Mahendra Singh. Over at Port Mourant, the clash between Port Mourant and the Warriors promise to be a thriller with both teams equally matched on paper. Port Mourant’s batting will be led by national player Homchand Pooran, Moshin Perkhan, Rajendra Latcha, Devindra Takurdeen and Rajiv Ivan.
The bowling should be in the capable hands of medium pacer Yogindra Harrinarine and spinners Steven Latcha, Rajendra Bolo, Shameer Khan, Rajendra Latcha, Ivan and Pooran. Warriors should be at full strength with Richard Ramdeen, Gajanand Singh. Farouk Hussain, Wahied Edwards, Seon Hetmyer and the experienced Anil Beharry leading a powerful batting lineup.
National medium pacer Paul Wintz and left arm Devindra Ramoutar would share the new ball while spinners Balram Samaroo, Beharry, Hussain and Kevin Ramdeen would provide backup. Umpires for the match would be Roshan Moakan and Rafik Latiff. The Busta Champion of Champions Tournament is in its seventh year and is sponsored by the Guyana Beverage Company and organised by the Cricket Development Committee of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
