Dear Editor,
The picturesque photo of the expressive Laluni farmer on the front page of your Monday’s (Sept 20) edition evoked both my interest and amusement. What a colourful display of competitive private sector co-existence by our beverage giants Banks DIH and DDL: Coca Cola being advertised alongside freshly picked cherries bound for Pepsi’s franchise holder.
I suggest a coming together of the two companies to jointly develop a processing facility for the challenged, committed, hard-working farmers.
Additionally, it would be fitting that the name of the project reflects such a bold community/private sector partnership by drawing from the names of the companies and community.
I would however strongly advise against adding insult to injury by including for consideration ‘Bank-dem-luni.’
Yours faithfully,
Derrick Cummings
