A Berbice farmer is now in custody after police recovered a 9mm pistol on his farm on Thursday evening.
Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the cash crop farm at Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder, just off the Corentyne Coastline.
After lawmen found the weapon within a clump of bushes, they arrested the 30-year-old farmer.
Another Corentyne farmer, Hemchan Dass, of Number 58 Village, was found with a 12-gauge pump action shotgun with three live matching cartridges without being the holder of a firearm licence on Tuesday.
Police had conducted a search on Dass’ home and found the gun and ammunition under a mattress.
He was sentenced to two years after offering a guilty plea to the charges laid against him.
