Channel 6 owner and Justice for All Party leader Chandra Narine Sharma remained hospitalized yesterday and his condition had not improved up to late last night. He is due to attend court this morning but is unlikely to do so owing to his medical condition.
His wife, Savitree Sharma, said that her husband’s blood pressure and heart beat were fluctuating between “very high” and “very low” and his condition had not improved much. Despite efforts, she further told this newspaper, she was unable to get CN Sharma admitted to the Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI).
“He isn’t doing well at all,” Savitree said via telephone last evening.
CN Sharma, Savitree had confirmed, suffered a heart attack around 2-3 pm on Saturday while at the Dr Balwant Singh hospital where she had taken him for a check-up since he was feeling unwell. During the last two weeks, Sharma had been hospitalized three times, the last time being last week.
Meanwhile, CN Sharma was charged with carnal knowledge of a child who was seven years old, earlier this year. The charge stemmed from allegations made by the now 13-year-old complainant, who accused Sharma of molesting her. He is on $2M bail on that offence. He has also been charged with witness tampering.
Her husband, Savitree said, will not be able to attend court for those matters this morning. His lawyers have been advised and will deal with the matter appropriately, she said.
