Vandals on Sunday night broke into the nursery section of the newly-opened Tuschen Primary School, defacing walls, scattering school items and stealing snacks.
“This was not thief, this is some wicked person who do this,” said a parent as they surveyed the two defaced classrooms yesterday. Upon turning up for classes yesterday, teachers discovered the damage. In the Nursery Year One classroom, the vandals broke into a cupboard and scattered teaching materials such as paper and crayons and even toilet paper. They also scattered paint about. The vandals entered the classroom by removing panes from the windows.
They also opened boxes of the biscuits and juice which were to be given to students as snacks.
In another classroom, the vandals also scattered items while splattering paint
on the furniture and walls. On one wall, the vandals scribbled the word “sex” several times.
Some parents of children attending the nursery department, after learning of the incident, took their children home.
However, the teachers conducted classes in another section of the building. Over 150 students attend the nursery department of the school, this newspaper was told.
The building has no electricity and consequently at nights it is without lights, which could have deterred the vandals, a resident pointed out. Additionally, the school is not fenced.
