Trinidad & Tobago Lawyers’ Association (T&TLA) re-bounded from their loss to the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) XI on Friday to comfortably beat the Guyana Bar Association (GBA) on Saturday at GCC ground by five wickets.
A fair number of local supporters from the legal fraternity turned out to cheer their counterparts who made 115 in 25.4 overs. Former under-19 cricketer Charles Ramson Jr. top scored for the Guyanese with 26 (3×4) while Timothy Jonas and Aroon Gajraj supported with 13 not out and 12 respectively.
Bowling for the visitors Rishi Triguette bagged 5-20 (5), Roger Kawalsingh tooke 3-26 (6) and Kevin Singh and Guy Hannah grabbed two and one respectively. When they took to the crease their victory was set up by an unbeaten 35 from captain Javed Khan.
The Trinidadians in reply coasted to 116-5 in the 21 overs. Khan stroked three fours in his innings and he was complimented by former T&T senior national cricketer Prakash Moosai, who chipped in with 27 (2x4s).
Krishna Jaglall was also among the runs with 22 as Dennis Paul grabbed two wickets for 17 runs from five overs, and Linden Amsterdam snared 1-9.
The winning team received a trophy, compliments of the Guyana Bar Association, while Triapathi also took home another one, courtesy of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and City Mall.
Meanwhile, according to Lennox Sankersingh, an attorney and a member of the visiting team, the inaugural Lawyers Cricket World Cup was held in Hyderbad, India in 2007 where a team represented the West Indies.
This event was again held at Cambridge University in England in 2009, and the next venue is Barbados in 2011.
