Retired army brigadier David Granger tonight confirmed a report on Capitol News that he had been nominated by a PNCR group to be the party’s presidential candidate at the 2011 general elections and he has accepted the nomination.
He told Stabroek News that if the party agreed to this nomination he would be its candidate.
There has been rampant speculation about who would be the PNCR’s candidate after intense pressure on present party leader Robert Corbin to stand down. Corbin has since said he would not be the candidate and the PNCR had embarked on a series of meetings to select the candidate. (More later)
