The upper flat of a two-storey Ogle house was on Saturday destroyed by a late afternoon fire, leaving a family of three temporarily homeless.
The house located at 56 Area H, Ogle was owned by Kathleen Rajkumar who lived there with her two sons. One of the woman’s sons Vinood Ishwerdin told Stabroek News that they were all home when the fire started at around 5 pm. He said that the fire began in his brother’s room, which was the last room on the western side. He believes that it was electrical in origin. The family was able to save a few of the items from the lower flat, but they were not able to save anything from the upper flat, he said.
While the house was not insured, Ishwerdin said that some of the household appliances that would have been destroyed in the fire may have been.
