Private Sector Commission (PSC) Chairman Ramesh Dookhoo has lauded the efforts made by President Bharrat Jagdeo in ensuring Clico (Guyana) policyholders particularly pensioners are reimbursed.
“Guyana has come out on top, we have done better than most Caribbean countries in the resolution of the Clico issue to the benefit of policyholders,” Dookhoo said. According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release he also noted that institutional policyholders such as pensioners are particularly relieved at the outcome of government’s intervention in resolving this financial dilemma.
Dookhoo said that the PSC will be submitting a proposal to Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh for legal measures to be introduced that would allow institutional pensioners to be paid at the time of their retirement.
