I refer to the news item in the Stabroek News, for Monday, September 27 in which in an interview with Mr Bob Persaud, brother-in-law of the murdered Minister of Agriculture Sash Sawh, he openly said that David Leander (aka ‘Biscuit’) was killed to cover up the truth as to why Sawh was executed. Many of us in the media who studied the massacre that took place in Sawh’s house that took the lives of two of his siblings are convinced that it was not a normal run-of-the-mill robbery. In fact, there is no evidence of robbery.
David Leander like an alleged member of the nocturnal killing squad, Paul Thomas (aka Kezorkee) who was in police custody on his hospital bed but died mysteriously, never made it. He expired, like Thomas, in strange circumstances in which poison was suspected to have been the culprit.
Who would want ‘Biscuit’ dead?
Bob Persaud twice, when interviewed by the Guyanese media, has referred to a cover-up in Sawh’s murder. He contends that the government broke a promise to him to have foreign experts investigate the gruesome executions and that they know more than they are saying.
Persaud has now gone to his Canadian parliamentarian to ask him to intervene with the Americans so Roger Khan can be interviewed. Here is an opportunity waiting for the opposition to grasp. But to date, no opposition figure has travelled to Canada to meet with Mr Persaud. No opposition personality has presented a dossier on the opposition’s position on the three homicides. Interestingly, Sawh’s wife, since Persaud first publicized his theory some time ago, has remained silent.
