A 39-year-old mother of two died when the car she was travelling in collided with a heap of sand on the No. 74 Village road, Corentyne yesterday morning.
Dead is Alex Chester-Johnson of Lot 1B No. 35 Village, Corentyne, who according to reports was one of seven occupants of motorcar PFF 405 which was being driven by 22-year-old Ravindra Prittipaul. The accident occurred at around 21:45 am.
According to reports the car was proceeding north on the western side of the public road at a fast rate when it collided with the heap of sand on the western side of the road. The driver lost control of the car which ended up in a yard.
Chester-Johnson was pronounced dead at the Skeldon Hospital while her husband, Lenox Johnson, suffered injuries to his face and left hand; 22-year-old Michael Chester injuries to his right leg; Courtney Chester, 18, injuries to his head and 20-year-old Tyrone Captain injuries to his right foot. Mookesh Jaundoo, 19, was also treated at the said hospital and he and Courtney Chester were transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where they were admitted in stable condition.
Besides her husband the woman leaves her two children, Vanessa, 16, and Marcell, 10, to mourn. Police are investigating the accident.
