Licences of drivers in fatal accidents suspended

Two drivers had their licences suspended yesterday after being placed before the courts charged with causing death by dangerous driving, a police release said.

According to the release Feroze Bacchus of Lot 38 Alliance, Canal No. 1 Polder, West Bank Demerara has been charged with causing the death of motorcyclist Devon Cummings on March 28, 2010.

Bacchus was at the time driving bus BMM 1485.
And Doodnarine Misir of Lot 371 Third Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara was charging with driving motorcar PDD 9467 in such a dangerous manner that it caused the death of pedestrian Mary Sandy on June 17, 2009. As a result of the tragedy the 25-year-old woman’s four children, one of whom was just two months old at the time, had to be taken into the custody of the Child Care & Protection Agency because their father and other relatives were unable to care for them.

As a consequence of the charges both drivers had their licences suspended pending the outcome of the matters.
