A mixed jury was yesterday empanelled for the murder trial of Elroy Torres who allegedly killed Elizabeth Hutson outside a city bar in December 2005.
The case was adjourned to tomorrow after attorney Lawrence Harris requested
that the court grant him some time to prepare his defence. However, Justice William Ramlal informed the attorney that the court would only grant him two days since he should have already had his defence in order because he had been representing Torres since the case was in the magistrate’s court.
It is alleged that on December 19, 2005 the accused murdered Hutson, called Shelly, outside a city bar. He reportedly stabbed the woman to death.
Prosecutors Rhondel Weever and Shivanie Balcharan are leading the state’s case.
