There will be back-to-back tournaments this weekend as the local golf season heightens ahead of the premier event on the calendar, the Guyana Open championships next month.
On Saturday, golfers will compete in the Household Plus sponsored Medal Play tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
Club Captain Patrick Prashad disclosed that the course is in excellent conditions so good scores are expected.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three players with the best net scores while there will be a prize for Nearest to the Pin.
Registration will close on Friday at 16:30 hours.
Tee off is at 12:30 but there will be the usual briefing at 12:15 hours.
The following day, the annual MACORP sponsored tournament will be staged from 08:30 hours in the much-anticipated event where seven prizes will be up for grabs.
MACORP’s Managing Director Jorge Medina will lead a strong field in the tournament.
Prashad said that a record field is expected to compete this weekend with several major tournaments on the card in the coming weeks.
The field should include last weekend’s winner Carlos Adams.
Registration closes tomorrow at 4:30pm.
On Sunday the players are expected to assemble at 8:15am for 8:30am Tee off in the MACORP sponsored medal play golf tournament. Registration closes October 16 at noon.
