Overseas-based Guyanese long distance runner Ronville Gravesande won the 30th running of the Continental Fifth Avenue Mile held on September 26 in New York City.
Running in the 60-64 age group Gravesande, who originally hails from Mahaica, ran the mile in a time of five minutes, eight seconds, defeating the defending champion Harold Nolan of Navesink, New Jersey. He came in second with a time of 5:20.0.
Gravesande’s next big event will be the New York City ING Marathon, which will be held on November 7 and according to him he wants to finish under three hours.
