-autopsy confirms
A post-mortem yesterday confirmed that the Devon Simpson who was found floating in a South Sophia canal died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators are still to find a motive for the killing and were yesterday following the lead that the killing of Simpson may be linked to the murder of Linden McPherson, who was found dead on the Ituni Trail on October 4 with a single gunshot wound. The police said it is suspected that McPherson was involved in the planting of ganja.
It was a cannabis leaf tattoo and the name ‘Shevon’ inked on his forearm, that lead to the positive identification of the 34-year-old-Linden resident, two days after his decomposing remains were found.
Relatives of Simpson called ‘Buja’ say they are clueless as to why he was killed or if he knew anyone in the area where he was killed.
His brother, Doreon had told Stabroek News minutes after making the positive identification that Simpson had travelled left home for the city on Sunday to off load wood.
He had described his brother as a porter.
A police official had said it was clear that the man was not a victim of robbery adding that residents had reported hearing gunshots early Saturday morning.
Police, in seeking help from the public to identify the man, had revealed that there was a tattoo on the upper left forearm in the form of a cannabis leaf with the writing ‘Jah Bless’.
This newspaper later learnt that a name was also inked into the man’s skin.
