Cody’s Place: Restaurant and Bar has joined forces with the promoters of the Caribbean Fury 2 boxing card to provide supplements during breakfast and lunch until the big day on November 6 at Princess Hotel.
Proprietor Christopher Cadogan told media workers yesterday that the restaurant will be providing breakfast and lunch for both local and foreigner boxers during the lead up to the event. He said he believed that it is a worthy investment, especially since this is the first time he will be sponsoring a boxing event.
Cadogan, in his brief remarks, stated that he was indeed happy to be on board, more particularly because he has seen the exploits of Shondell ‘Mystery Lady’ Alfred and Leon ‘Hurry Up’ Moore in the ring. Moore will be fighting in the feature bout against Venezuelan Breilor ‘Zulianito de Oro’ Teran in a 10-round contest while Alfred, who is Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) bantamweight champion, will be challenging Olga ‘La Mona’ Julio of Colombia in six rounds.
Yesterday at the East and Middle Streets business place, co-promoter of the card, Moore expressed his gratitude to Cadogan for his support while encouraging other business establishments to come on board for the event. Cody’s Place: Restaurant and Bar has been in existence since December 31, 2007.
Meanwhile, other fighters who will be on show are Denny Dalton, trading blows with US-based Guyanese Raul Frank, while Guyanese heavyweight champion Mitchell Rogers and compatriot Theophilus ‘Blue’ King will do battle.
Local boy James Walcott will face off with Trinidadian Joel McRae in the lightweight category. The two other fights on the card will be between Canadian Richard Reittie and Guyanese Mark Murray; Dominica-based Guyanese Clive Atwell will fight Errol Trotman.
